VisualPrefs Modify and enhance Amiga Workbench

There are a lot of system patches that enhance Workbench in various ways. VisualPrefs is a famous patch that can modify the way classic Workbench looks like. If you take a second and think about it you can see that some aspects of Workbench look a bit weird sometimes, out of proportion.

VisualPrefs can fix this and lets the user decide how thick the borders should be of a window and how the small scrolling arrows should look proportionally. But that is not all, there are quite a lot of tuning options in VisualPrefs so the user can end up with a highly unique looking Workbench including replacing buttons with image sets which can mimic other operating systems.

Personally I find myself only choosing the predefined set “Xen” so that the Workbench windows have a little more 3D look to them. There are a couple of other options I click on too but as you can see on the screenshot I am fairly traditional in my Workbench preferences.

To be honest with you VisualPrefs is mostly a patch that someone with a graphics card should use but I haven’t really noticed any slowdowns on my A1200 AGA with a 060 50 MHz CPU. I am going to post a follow up in the future when I configure VisualPrefs for my graphics card equipped Amiga but for now, can you see the difference between the pictures?

You can find VisualPrefs on Aminet together with a lot of other packages for it: Aminet
